For some months now I have had the pleasure of collaborating with the Universidad a Distancia de Madrid (UDIMA) as a teacher of the new master’s degree ‘University Expert in Parental Coordinator’. As a result of this collaboration, today I share the ‘Parental Coordinator Expert Manual’, of which I am co-author, which serves as a study tool for the students of the University.
The training offered by this course allows students not only to be trained at a theoretical level, but also to solve practical cases of parental coordination and conflictive divorces with the help of professional experts, among which I am included along with other legal professionals, as well as psychologists, social workers and mediators. From this space we are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate in the writing of the ‘Parental Coordination Expert Manual’, as well as to continue delving into the world of training through such an exciting tool as writing.
We hope that both our facet as teachers and the writing of this Manual can help future professionals of parental coordination in Spain.
What does the Master’s Degree ‘University Expert in Parental Coordination’ consist of?
The Chair of Social Welfare, Communication, Education and Employment of the Distance University of Madrid and the Spanish Foundation for Social and Health Studies, in collaboration with public and private institutions, sensitive to the problem of conflicts between parents and the consequences on minor children, convene this course with the aim of responding to society and the courts, so that they can have highly qualified professionals in the accompaniment and management of parental conflicts. The figure of the parental coordinator arises to respond to all the needs of families outside the courts, as another tool that the judge can use to enforce court decisions. Figure of support for the execution of the sentence that will accompany and assist the parents in order to help them implement their Parentality Plan, resolve differences and guide them in relation to the needs of their children.
Thus, the coordinator will be able to make decisions that temporarily modify daily life issues that do not affect the sentence. The program is aimed at lawyers, psychologists, educators and social workers, and professionals working in alternative dispute resolution.
