I recently had the pleasure of participating in the program ‘Liarla Pardo’ of LaSexta, in which we talked about the implications of the legal changes that will come in terms of shared custody of pets. As wehave already explained in our blog, the legislator is preparing a reform of the Civil Code by which pets will be considered beings endowed with sentience, and not mere movable things, as until now.
This means, among other things, that judges will have it easier when establishing a shared custody for pets in case of separation or divorce.
Thus, as I explain in this interview, the usual formula in case of separation or divorce with children is usually that of shared custody, provided that it benefits the child.
In these cases, it is possible that the pet will also change residence every time the child does, which will make the situation more pleasant and bearable for the child.
In addition, during the interview we remind you that it is always convenient to try to reach an amicable agreement when a couple breaks up, especially when there are children in common and pets involved.
Trying to bring these cases before a judge for lack of agreement will always be more expensive and cumbersome for both partners.
